Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service is the official weather source for weather and climate information in Trinidad and Tobago.
The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) is the official source for weather and climate data, information, products, and services in Trinidad and Tobago.
The TTMS’s mission is to provide reliable meteorological information and services to stakeholders and the public in general that is consistent with international standards, and useful for decision making towards the pursuit of national, scientific, social, economic and cultural goals and sustainable development.
The mission of the TTMS can be usefully expanded in terms of its mandate and contribution on behalf of the government, to the following responsibilities and national goals as devolved by the World Meteorological Organization:
• Safety of life and property;
• Reduction of the impact of natural disasters;
• National sustainable socio-economic development;
• Efficient planning, management, and operation of government and community affairs;
• Community health, recreation, and quality of life;
• National security;
• Preservation and enhancement of the quality of the environment;
• Policy setting;
• Meeting international requirements/commitments; and
• Advancement of knowledge and understanding of weather and climate.
The TTMS operates the following main divisions:
A Main Meteorological and Forecast Office located at the South Terminal Building at Piarco Airport.
An Upper Air Station located opposite to Air Guard station.
A Climate Division at the same location at the Upper Air Station.
A Meteorological Observing Station at Crown Point, Tobago.
