TT Met Office Recognized by WMO International Weather Apps Awards

The TT Met Office Mobile APP received international recognition at the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) International Weather Apps Awards on December 15th 2020. The App has been awarded Honorable mention – Award for apps for developing countries (Category 1- Sub-category 3).

The World Meteorological Organization announced the winners of the Weather Apps Awards competition via a virtual ceremony. The “WMO International Weather Apps Awards (WIWAA)” were issued for the first time this year as part of the celebrations of the organization’s 70th anniversary.

The International Jury awarded Honourable Mention to the TT Met Office App in Category 1 – Awards for innovation and promotion of the use of weather and climate information for development as a sign of recognition of quality and encouragement.

The Weather Apps Awards competition recognizes excellence in ever-improving mobile-based applications, which have become the most widespread way for the public to access and use weather information. The International Jury received 118 submissions from public, private and other organizations from around the world.

The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service would like to thank the WMO for recognising our efforts to improve access to weather and climate information.

The TT Met Office App features push notifications for alerts, watches, and warnings, weather forecasts and climate services. The TT Met Office app can be downloaded on Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.
