The TTMS 5K 2020 was hosted virtually during the period of January 11th – January 31st 2021. Persons who registered in 2020 were given the opportunity to participate in the event. The virtual race was conducted via the fitness app, Strava, which uses GPS technology to record the distance travelled. Participants were required to join the TTMS 2020 5K Club on Strava and run or walk 5 kilometers at any location and at any time during the stipulated period, tracking it with their smartphones. After completing their race, participants then submitted photos or videos to the TTMS. Winners were then chosen based on the top three times recorded for males and females.

The TTMS would like to extend sincere thanks to all of the participants and the sponsors, Caribbean Meteorological Organization (CMO), Spex Plus Ltd, Carib Brewery Ltd. and Nestle Trinidad & Tobago Ltd.

The TTMS 5th Annual 5K Walk/Run was originally slated for March 21st 2020 in commemoration of World Meteorological Day (March 23) and would have highlighted the theme “Climate and Water”. However, it was postponed due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The TTMS has been hosting 5K races in the Piarco-St. Helena area since 2016 to promote the theme for World Meteorological Day. The TTMS will not be hosting a 5K for 2021.
